August Grant Updates: San Antonio Area Foundation, Valero BFC, TYAN Award Healthy Futures $67,000

Updated: Aug 17, 2020

Healthy Futures of Texas is excited to announce that the San Antonio Area Foundation has selected our organization as one if its 2020 grantees, awarding the agency a $50,000 general operating grant. This is the first year Healthy Futures has received an Area Foundation grant.

We are also delighted to recieve a $10,000 gift from the Valero Benefit For Children, which successfully raised $14 million to distribute even without hosting their annual golf tournament. $1.5 million of this was distributed to San Antonio area non-profits. Valero BFC has supported Healthy Futures annually since 2016.

The Texas Youth Action Network, a project of Texas A&M and DSHS, has awarded the Youth Advocacy Council a $7,000 grant to hire a part time Team Lead to support YAC as they launch their 2020-2021 school year. These funds will not only be useful to evaluate the effectiveness of the position, but they also create a new position which we anticipate will be filled with a YAC alum. This unique strategy will surely benefit the overall impact of our youth-adult partnership, and we hope to disseminate the model to other members of the Texas Youth Action Network. These funds represent a continued investment in YAC that began in 2019.

The combined $67,000 in grants are generous gifts to support our work preparing young adults to make healthy decisions about sex and relationships during the ongoing pandemic. These funds will play a critical role in ensuring consistent delivery of our programs by providing critical investments in virtual education technology and software, as well as supporting our staff and operating expenses.
