Adelina S. Silva, Ph.D.

Vice Chair

Dr. Silva is the Vice Chancellor for Student Success for the Alamo Colleges. She has held several positions in her 40-year career with the Alamo Colleges as counselor, founder and director of the San Antonio College Women’s Center, coordinator of federal programs in student services, Vice President of Student Services at Palo Alto College, District Vice President of Student Program Development and District Director of Student and Community Program Development. Her classroom experience includes teaching at McCollum High School, Palo Alto College, San Antonio College, Texas A&M University and as an Adjunct Graduate Professor of business, management, and human resource development for Webster University, where she was the recipient of the 2003 Excellence in Teaching Award for adjunct faculty worldwide. Dr. Silva is the first Hispanic Female Vice Chancellor in the Alamo Community College District, home of SAC, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree. She is a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor’s degree graduate of Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi and a Doctorate in Educational Administration in Community College Leadership Program from the UT Austin, where she was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. A fourth generation Texan, Dr. Silva was born in Kenedy in South Texas, where she attended public schools until her family moved to San Antonio, where she graduated from McCollum High School. She has been inducted into the Harlandale ISD Hall of Fame and La Prensa’s San Antonio Latina Women in Action.
